Lack of sleep
There are things you can do to decrease the likelihood of seizures. For example, lack of sleep will lead to seizures, lack of exercise will lead to seizures, depression and stress will lead to seizures.
Doctors often do not understand how debilitating medications can be. Most anticonvulsants also deplete your body of vitamin D. It is therefore essential that you have your doctor measure your vitamin D, and take supplements to get somewhere between 50 and 70.
I have been taking anticonvulsants for over fifty years. In the first twenty years, I learned that some drugs worked for me and some did not. It does not matter if it is the most effective med for 70% of people; if it does not work for you, you do not want to take it. When I was thirty and my doctors were trying to switch me from a medication that worked for others that did not work, I stated that they had to put me back on the med that worked. I have not had attacks since. So I know I've been lucky, but the side effects of the medications gave me osteoporosis and made it impossible to have children.
