After 9 months of clinical trial, Asterias researchers showed that 50% of patients (3 out of 10 patients) showed two levels of motor improvement. And all 6 patients involved in the trail showed at least one motor improvement grade. However, some experts might say that recovery from spinal cord accidents is possible by banning stem cell therapy. This is true. But there is no other way to learn or remedy that patients regain their two grades of improvement within 9 months of treatment.
Previous data from sixty-two untreated patients confirmed that 29% of patients received two improvement stages with one year, while AST-OPC1 promises massive improvements within 9 months. Dr. Edward Wirth also verified it when he said: "We are increasingly encouraged by these long-lasting, high-quality results, which are striking compared to spontaneous restoration fees in a population of closely matched untreated affected people."
Two motor stages are equivalent to a satisfactory life. For any individual suffering from spinal cord injuries or a higher physical paralysis, reaching two motor levels is a dream and with AST-OPC1 now it does not seem like a distant dream at all.
